Closing comment – Friday 15 June – Classrooms, Community & colds

Standard

I hope you’ve all been able to take advantage of the four day week in Australia and haven’t had too many emails or meetings to catch up on.

This week’s closing c-words are culinary, classroom, colds and Community.

Sorry I didn’t get to post last week, but I was out of the office visiting clan, chums and clients in Queensland and then had a few days in Bali for a friend’s wedding. It’s a hard knock life!

I spent Monday sharpening my culinary skills at Bumbu Bali for the finale event of the wedding. The weather was fantastic (although a little hot for me), the food delicious and we also got to check out a wonderful example of corporate social responsibility by Quicksilver and Coca Cola at one of the Balinese fish markets.

Tuesday I arrived back in Queensland in time to celebrate my brother’s last day of his teaching degree and classroom practical. He’s now a fully qualified teacher and will be inspiring the next generation in the classroom in the very near future. Hopefully he’ll still have some spare time to help our clients with their corporate curriculums.

I also had the opportunity to catch up with fellow PRIA colleagues in Queensland Ingrid Larkin, Amisha Mehta and Robina Xavier. Coincidentally they all work together in the great communications program at QUT, where I developed my foundation in communications.

The rest of the week has been a mixture of recovering from a cold, catching up on Community (such a clever comedy) and consolidating emails after a week out of the office.

At the same time, our crew managed to deliver a creative newsletter for our client Principles for Social Investment, develop a communications workshop for a government client and put together concepts for a couple of video productions. Thank goodness for wifi, iPads and the BlackBerry.

Until next week, cheers & lots of champagne.

Jack & the c word crew

PS. Here’s a song we’ve been singing today to keep us warm … Summer Nights as performed by Lego!
